OSP Permitting Specialist- Pittsburgh, PA area

We are currently recruiting for a full-time OSP Permitting Specialist based in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
As a Permitting Specialist you will play a crucial role in the successful deployment of FTTH projects aimed at bringing high-speed fiber connectivity to homes and businesses in Pittsburgh, PA. You will be responsible for navigating the complex regulatory landscape, obtaining the necessary permits and approvals, and ensuring compliance with local regulations to enable the seamless implementation of fiber-optic infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify permitting requirements and develop strategies for obtaining necessary approvals for OSP fiber projects.
Research and understand local, state, and federal regulations related to OSP projects, zoning ordinances, environmental impact assessments, and right-of-way usage.
Prepare and submit comprehensive permit applications, including all required documentation, plans, and drawings to relevant regulatory authorities in a timely manner.
Engage with government agencies, municipalities, and utilities to facilitate the permitting process, addressing any inquiries, requests for additional information, or potential roadblocks.
Coordinate with legal teams to review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents associated with permitting and right-of-way access.
Maintain accurate records of all permitting documentation, correspondence, and approvals, ensuring that records are organized and accessible for future reference.
Provide regular updates to project teams regarding the status of permitting activities, potential challenges, and milestones achieved.
Work closely with external consultants, contractors, and surveyors to gather accurate data and information needed for permitting applications.
Monitor and manage any conditions or requirements set forth by permitting agencies throughout the project lifecycle to ensure ongoing compliance.
Stay informed about industry best practices, changes in regulations, and emerging trends that may impact OSP fiber projects and permitting processes.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Proven experience (1-3+ years) working on permitting activities for telecommunication infrastructure, preferably fiber-optic network projects.
Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to zoning, environmental impact assessments, and right-of-way usage.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, regulatory agencies, and external partners.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in using GIS software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools for preparing and submitting permit applications.
Familiarity with OSP construction processes and telecommunications terminology is a plus.
Problem-solving skills to address challenges related to permitting and regulatory compliance.
Ability to adapt to changes in regulations and project requirements in a dynamic work environment.
Strong organizational skills and a proactive attitude to drive the permitting process forward.
