TekCom Resources is a seeking a highly skilled and experience Combo Technician specializing in both Copper and Fiber installations. This is a PERM opportunity in the Northern Nevada area. As a Combo Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing copper and fiber optic cabling systems for telecommunications networks, data centers, or other relevant infrastructure. A company vehicle is provided and occasional travel throughout Northern Nevada is required.
Salary: 65-75k/year DOE
Responsibilities:
Install, terminate, splice, and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cables according to industry standards and specifications.
Perform site surveys, troubleshoot repeaters, fault locating, and assess requirements for cabling installations.
Handle the installation and maintenance of structured cabling systems, including racks, patch panels, and related network equipment.
Troubleshoot and diagnose problems related to copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
Conduct quality checks and tests to ensure proper functionality and adherence to performance standards.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to plan and execute cabling projects effectively.
Maintain accurate documentation of installations, repairs, and tests performed.
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working with cabling equipment and tools.
Keep abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in copper and fiber optic cabling.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Copper and Fiber Technician or in a similar role within the telecommunications or networking industry.
Proficiency in installing, terminating, splicing, and testing copper and fiber optic cables.
Strong knowledge of industry standards (e.G., ANSI/TIA, BICSI, IEEE) related to cabling installations and practices.
Familiarity with various cabling types, connectors, and related tools and equipment.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to cabling systems.
Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
Physical capability to work in different environments, including climbing ladders, lifting heavy equipment, and working in confined spaces if necessary.
Valid Drivers License with Clean MVR Required
