Job Description
TekCom Resources is seeking a Director of Operations covering the Oklahoma and Arkansas market for a fast-growing, nationally-active MSO! Candidates may be located across Oklahoma or Arkansas, though strong preference will be given to candidates in the Shawnee or Oklahoma City area.
As Director of Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing day-to-day field operations of technician teams across Oklahoma and Arkansas, working with customers and ensuring HFC/fiber network reliability. On an organizational level, you will be working with other members of the executive team to ensure operational priorities feed into and support overarching company goals. System repairs, construction and upgrades within the market will be under your purview, and your work will take you to other offices within your region - frequency of travel is entirely dependent on current need.Your responsibilites will include:
Regional Operations:
Manage your technician teams, supervisors, operations personnel, warehouse/inventory employees and some customer service personnel in discharge of day-to-day functions.
Communicates with vendors, the management and executive teams, and partner companies to prioritize, prepare for and execute both typical daily tasks and long-term, large-scale initiatives.
Manage and monitor performance indicators focused on network reliability and strength.
Ensure coordinaton between Fiber Technicians and business support team to facilitate high-quality customer service, and oversee large-scale service initiatives in pursuit of same goal.
Address typical daily contingencies and situations in both NOC and field settings.
Address operational/technical emergencies as needed in conjunction with other departments including call centers, retail locations, NOC personnel, etc.
Proactively pursue opportunities for increased efficiency and company growth/market expansion, sometimes working with business and sales teams in doing so.
Technical Operations, both Inside and Outside Plant:
Final responsibility for quality and operation of fiber, coax plant and central office infrastructure, ensuring compliance with FCC and company standards and directives.
Assessing issues with broadcast/signal quality and putting in place changes to minimize those situations moving forward.
Work with team on making sure correct tools are being used to address problems and that personnel understand how to use those tools.
Create and modify any documentation or maps needed to promote quality of services and minimize interruption or degradation.
Oversee acquisition of necessary materials for network development, selecting vendors based on cost and quality and coordinating with executive team in making sure current vendors are meeting company needs.
Personnel:
Find, hire and develop relevant personnel.
Works with other managers and supervisors to put together and maintain training programs for different skill sets and needs.
Ensure field staff are following their training in the use of company assets.
Reviews employee status within company training program and recommend changes where needed.
Evaluates employees for promotion opportunities.
Ensure compliance with safety directives.
Put together and implement QA directives, working with technical team on making sure work is performed to our customers' satisfaction and company standards.
Infrastructure Improvement:
Work with technical and business teams in putting together and executing capital investment projects to improve and develop infrastructure.
Overall responsibility for coordinating infrastructure development strategy for your region, hand-in-hand with finance, customer service and technical teams.
Reviewing these project plans to ensure they fit company's budget and long-term planning and goals across multiple regions.
Knowledge of Technology and Industry:
Experienced and educated in telecom tech, both voice and data.
Knowledge of Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) is absolutely necessary, as is knowledge of HFC networks and headend/Central Office infrastructure.
Our client would love to see the following background:
10 years operations management experience with at least 5 of those in internet and cable operations, preferably involving HFC networks.
More generally, a history of team management, personnel coaching and improvement, problem solving in the present and long-term planning for future operations and improvements to efficiency. In short, a leader with a track record of improving their team and company's well-being and growth!
Key Skills:
OSP, ISP, Fiber Network, Engineering, Construction/Vendor Management, Permitting, Facilities, Telecommunication networks design experience, Fiber to the Premise (FTTP) Fiber to the Home (FTTH), Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC), NESC. Fiber to the Cell (FTTC or FTTX), ROW, Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, Visio, FME, Mapcom M4, GIS Software, LodeData, HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax), Comcast, Cable One, Charter, Spectrum, Cox.
